The Korczak Prize for Music is an international music composition prize designed to foster the creation of musical work for chamber plays and compositions for children and young people inspired by Janusz Korczak and his educational values.
Organised by the Korczak Institute for New Music together with Venetian Conservatorio Benedetto Marcello the prize is part of the Narrare in Musica – Narrating Music – project sponsored by the Music Education department
The prize is open to composers under 40 years of age of all nationalities. The composers selected by the jury will be invited to Venice where they will take part in a three-day artistic residency during which they will be able to follow work on their composition or the dramatisation of the work selected, rehearsing with its performers and director.
Texts in Italian or English can be original extracts or reworkings of the many writings of this Polish educationalist and writer or simply be inspired by his principles.
The Prize is held in Venice.
